Certamente, Signor Smith. Guardi che bellezza! Quante ne vuole?

Don Smith:

Me ne dia un chilo.

Pescivendolo:

Ecco qui. Un chilo di sogliole.

Don Smith:

Vorrei delle cozze. Due chili, per favore.

Pescivendolo:

Va bene. È tutto?

Don Smith:

Ho bisogno anche di due dozzine di gamberi. -- Si, quelli

Pescivendolo:

Altro?

Don Smith:

No, grazie. Quanto devo?

Pescivendolo:

Translation:

Don Smith:

Tony, are these sole fresh?

Fish Vendor:

Certainly, Mr. Smith. Look how beautiful! How many do you want?

Don Smith:

Give me a kilo (of them).

Fish Vendor:

Here you are. A kilo of sole.

Don Smith:

I'd like some mussels. Two kilos, please.

Fish Vendor:

OK. Is that all?

Don Smith:

I also need two dozen (of) prawns. -- Yes, those.

Fish Vendor:

Anything else?

Don Smith:

No, thanks. How much do I owe [you]?

Fish Vendor:

1. A fisherman will point to the eyes of a fish, saying, "Look at the eye; it is still alive," thus reassuring you that the fish is very fresh. "Guardi l'occhio; è ancora vivo."
